2021 – NEW YORK, GALERIA NARA ROESLER

Raul Mourão’s first solo exhibition in Nara Roesler’s New York gallery brings a selection of recent works that synthesize and connect his formal investigations to a political critique of contemporary issues.

Granting dynamism to his large-scale corten steel sculptures, which gain movement when activated by the public, Mourão emphasizes that the installations are interactive objects. As the human touch becomes fundamental to activating the structure, the audience’s engagement functions as a metaphor for the artist’s own involvement in political and social matters of everyday life in Brazil.
